Random christmas deco in Singapore! As always, so gorgeous!

The crowd that thronged outside Abercrombie and Fitch where the sensational male models were posing for photographs!

I’ve been seeing them all over Facebook and no way in hell can I be so close to Singapore and not pop in to cop a feel, have a look.

You would think that it is super hard to get up close to take photos with the models but there’s actually a wall of very shy girls who somehow managed to get to the front of the line but were quite shy to finish the deed and go.

See! They were waiting! And they were also beckoning girls to come join them! And they made sure to remind you to come for the opening whenever you strike up a conversation.

Whee!! So many grouped together for us!!

This guy was going around taking topless pics with the models too..hahaha Okay lah, boleh lah I see some pectoral outlines there.

LOL Chee Kiang sent this to one of our gay buddies on whatsapp with the caption, “Merry Christmas!”. Hope our friend managed to find time to go check out the boys before their stint is over.

We have such awesome boyfriends who will actually say things like, “Eh better faster, you want to go see your Abercrombie and Fitch models right? Let’s go! Let’s go!” and played cameramen while we oggled.

Despite going to Orchard many many times now, I still stumble about, not knowing which underground walkways lead to where, which escalator goes to which shopping mall…anyway long story short, suddenly I was in front of a super cute milkshake shop! I think it was at ION?

And Chee Kiang had one called Powderful Milonosaurus! So cute right!! Confirm the name came from Milo dinosaur that most of your mamaks carry.

Previous weekend Daryl+Kim came down and we hung out with Joanne (Daryl’s Sis) and hubby Ser Hon.. and this week another part of the gang came down, Justin+Charlotte. So it’s like a non-stop december weekend thing! Should have brought my camera out last weekend as we went to a whole lot of awesome restaurants!

More of the Sg Christmas deco. I want to see more but we always seem to be rushing to somewhere whenever we are in Orchard. :\ Maybe I’ll pop by one evening to just walk walk and photograph, photograph!

Apparently all future induction courses will be held here. It’s a really beautiful health allied sciences college and the hostels are really new and comfortable too. All officers in the peninsular will have their induction here which is carried out in batches. ALSO, good news to all government servants who will have to have their induction courses one day, the birotatanegara (BTN) has been cancelled forever since Jan 2011!! YAY!!!

In a way, it is sort of like a camp as everyone is about the same age. There are only six of us from AIMST but we are trying our best to make as many new friends as possible.

Pretty awesome to be able to pop out if you think the food’s gonna suck.

For me it feels really surreal to be called by the government to congregate at a place for four days because it just feels like national service all over again. I mean technically we are serving the nation but I couldn’t help feeling this overwhelming sense of nostalgia, walking back to dorms, i really felt like I was back in national service.

I am always up for making new acquaintances and this is how it usually is when you go for a camp, you do not expect to see any familiar faces. The strange but awesome part is that I get to choose my room mate. It doesn’t even happen this way at a normal camp! So of course I would choose someone whom I have known for years, someone whom I have lived with for years and someone whom I have plenty of catching up to do with. So glad Cze-Yin is my room mate!

And this is a new friend I have made, Dhanya!

I was initially worried that I might have to share a dorm with six other girls or something. While it was fun, I don’t think I want to repeat what I went through during national service – sharing a dorm with 24 girls. But to my delight, our room is HUGE! Two to a room and so much floor space! There’s a conjoining toilet with our neighbour but it’s cool.. we made friends, we won’t steal each other’s shampoo. Albeit a little dusty, the bed is really solid and the ceiling fan is cold enough for us as we’re on the 6th floor plus it has been raining quite a bit. The lovely weather does remind me of national service where it was mostly cloudy as I went during the rainy season.

Another strange thing was that there’s no curfew for us. Most of us are probably still coming to terms with the fact that we are no longer students but real, proper, working adults. The security guards would wave us through and we’d be stunned while still in “Defence Against Security Guards” mode – a skill many of us have acquired as students who had to deal with fussy guards.

I remember in National Service, we would still have talks after dinner and we would walk to the cafeteria after a cool evening bath and settle in for an evening of superstitious or motivational rambling by some trainer.

I’m feeling particularly nostalgic about how I would whip out my notepad and pen to record every single moment that happened in national service while trying to deal with home sickness, making new friends and eating strange food.

In National Service, we were served five meals a day and it is no different here. Two hours of talk is followed by half an hour or one and a half hour of makan, another two hours of talk, another round of makan. We makan SIX times here.

In national service, if we skipped any makans, we were required to be in the cafeteria. But here we can adjourn back to our rooms and come out again when there was another lecture to go to. The room is in a perpetual state of coolness.

In national service, I arrived in a bus, without a single soul who could speak to me in English. I thought it was the most important trait to have back then. Fast forward 6 years and here I am, less of a banana and arrived in my car. Drove here straight after work and the feeling was …for lack of a better word…awesome. I just felt this vast amount of freedom to just up and leave anytime. Back in the day, camps meant a month of planning, liasing with friends, getting your mum to do some shopping for you. But now, I can just pack a few necessities, shop for some stuff and throw everything into my car boot and sing loudly to Fly FM for one hour plus before arriving at the campus where my induction is held.

When I went for camps, surely I would forget to pack something or I would realize that I really really could use with something. And I would never get it. I would then have to suffer in silence. But last night, we needed floor mats because the room was dusty and it flooded on my side of the room as we forgot to close the window. Out we went to a grocery store about 2km away, without feeling even the slightest bit of tiredness to stock up on some floor mats, toilet rolls and snacks. All because I had a car. I am in CAMP and I have my car here with me. I can say that over and over again.

I think the best part is that I have my favourite soft toy pillow here with me, my P1wimax modem here with me and my kettle as well. As I am quite high up, the speed is mad crazy. When I download movies, it’s like way faster than the speeds I get back home in Kluang.  I have never even been this well equipped at a camp.

While my colleagues have been very supportive of me for the past 5 months, I have never had the chance to meet so many FYDOS at once. I don’t feel like I’m in a working environment, it seems like university all over again because no one here is your senior (or in some cases, no one here is very much your senior).

I have three more days to go. And then it’s Singapore for the weekend. Singapore’s like, 20 minutes away. How awesome does my camp get?!? Internet + Boyfriend Who Is 20 Minutes Away + Car + Cold Weather + Comfy Bed….I’m one happy cookie.

It’s so long ago that my graduation ceremony photo albums pops up on Facebook’s Photo Memories every now and then. But it is my graduation day, and no matter how long it has been, it will be up here. My europe trip too. Even though it happened in mid-2009, one day I shall post all if not some of my pictures taken in Amsterdam, Paris etc.

There’s one professionally taken by the gown rental/photography people which I have collected but have yet to scan it… it’ll just get hung up somewhere at home. There’s gonna be a little shrine on one of the walls dedicated to my graduation.

With Dr. Manikandan and Dr. Karthik. Dr. Karthik is like a super teacher. He was there with us from (almost) the beginning till the end of our studies. He thought us the super basic stuff like dental materials and cavity designs all the way to complex things like post and core, crowns and bridge, cast partial dentures.. we can’t thank him enough. He is extremely dedicated to the students and helped us in any way he could. We were initially afraid of him because he put on the bad cop persona but over the years, he became a dear friend and mentor to all of us.

Dr. Manikandan is one of the dental officers who sees patients before deciding if they are suitable for the students. He also played a major role during our Clinical Management Report and credits to him for the beautiful before and after photos taken with the clinic’s camera. He also earns many brownie points among the students here by being one of the hottest staff members around! That being said, Dr. George is still a favourite among most female students. HEHEHE. Sorry everybody, the secret is out.

Found Dr. Brindha and Dr. Niekla!!

These are the two most motherly lecturers I have here.

Dr. Brindha is Dr. Karthik’s wife and the both of them arrive at AIMST at the end of 2006, early in our second year. She was the good cop to Dr. Karthik’s initial bad cop. Dr. Brindha is usually the one to reassure us when we are faced with “OH SHIT OH SHIT OH SHIT” situations. She takes her time to clear our doubts for us and is super super super patient.

Dr. Niekla.. probably the most popular lecturer at the dental faculty. She has recently left AIMST so it’s quite unfortunate that the juniors will not get to know her . You people at IMU better appreciate her! She’s probably the most animated, adorable, caring and understanding lecturer ever! She has no qualms about letting her hair down when joking with students and swings back into professional mode when it comes to our paediatric sessions. Yes, she’s our paediatric dentistry lecturer. With her good PR skills, she’s excellent with the kids and she’s the one who taught us about the importance of a reassuring touch to improve our communication with the kids.

With my patient, Mr. Phoon! Mr. Phoon is probably one of my most caring patients ever… I only met him during the final leg of my final year, a time when stress levels were sky high, tears were held back by fanning ourselves frantically. When my clinical management report (CMR) patient told me that she probably could not come for anymore treatment, I really didn’t know what to do. Mr. Phoon, whom I had a session with that day, saw my crumbling face and offered to become my CMR patient. He said he could come anytime I needed him to. I was so so so touched by his sincerity but I had to persevere to convince my first patient as I had already started with her case and there was not much time left. Thank you so much, Mr. Phoon. My junior who took on your case is very lucky to have you as a patient.

Finding a good patient back in uni was seriously rare. I can only name like… a handful of patients who were nice to me. Most were nightmares. I had one infamous nightmare. Hahaha. No names please!

Can hardly make out our faces but yeah, that’s all 37 of us. The first batch of dental graduates from AIMST University! Our class photo is hung in the dental students’ common room to be remembered for ages to come.

With Prof. Smales, a man who loves us as much as we love him. He still has his british humour about him which is not quite registered among my classmates most of the time but we do love him so much. He is the one who build up the entire aimst dental programme with the help of Datuk Dr. Rohani, Dr. Robinson and Prof. Comfort. But this AIMST BDS programme is his baby.

In the initial years, he would come in every other month to tell us about the developments of the programme. He would tell us about the construction of the simulation lab, the technology lab, what we were to expect in our new dental building at the new campus (which we only saw for the first time in our third year) and later on, the successful accreditation of our course. It was a long journey and he was with us all the way. I believe that this is a privilege that the first batch of dental students have managed to enjoy. People in the fourth batch and so on would probably never get to know Prof. Smales the way we did. I’m sorry that you guys did not get to see the school transform to become what it is today but please appreciate all the facilities that you have here at AIMST because it wasn’t always like that.

Oooh..ooh.. so right, after like 3-4 months of my convo ceremony, the family and I decided to go get proper shots done at a studio. Here’s the results:

*During the second week of April 2010, my faculty held their annual games which we have so aptly named ADSALympics. ADSALympics is a monster of a sporting events. I like how my junior Shing Hui put it: ADSALympics = Cheer 2000 + NBA + Olympics + Thomas CUP + FIFI World Cup + Reality Show Event (plenty of drama). I’ll probably blog more about the other events, but by now most of you should be well acquainted with my blogging style, so don’t set your hopes too high.

At the ripe old age of 23 (*dodges tomatoes and banana skins from the rest of the classmates*), I took part in my first ever cheerleading event!

We have this formation called The Bridge where Sock Nee runs across the boys’ backs. I was supposed to be an extra boy but after being all drama queen and squealing and screaming everytime Sock Nee stepped on me, they kicked me back out to join the girls shaking the pompoms. So happy to be back as a girl.

Everyone feared for Lie Yuen’s life with this formation. It was a three layer pyramid with the second layer’s boys’ hands extended all the way up, holding on to her feet. She then falls straight down from the top to the waiting hands below.

Batch 3 performed after us and gave it their all. They have been practicing for more than a month prior to the competition and with Deniece as their squad leader, they pretty much dropped all the jaws in the badminton court that day.

Gerviene as the damsel in distress during the siren call at the beginning (just watch the video!). Oh yeah, the Batch 3′s team name is Sirens (or was it Sirenz?).

The Batch 3 can seriously seriously dance. There’s one part where their tummies tuck in and their chest stick out and back in in quick succession…that was awesome. I tried that in front of the mirror and failed embarrassingly.

The last to perform were the dentistry babies, our super juniors from Year 1.

There is one particular move that I liked a lot! The girls had this puppet move where they have their arms sticking out robot style and then they turn their heads to us in puppetry fashion. Nice touch!

I must apologize though as I don’t have Batch 5′s video up on youtube and I must not procrastinate any longer with these posts so I won’t be showing Batch 5′s video here. It’s on facebook though…I think.

It was certainly a rewarding experience coming in at 2nd place after the few but intense cheerleading practice which was done military style by Maxis. This is probably the last time that I’ll ever get to be part of a cheerleading team.

For those who are not from my university or my course, ADSALympics is an annual sporting event held by the AIMST Dental Students’ Association. It is basically a crazy week of non stop sports, reducing us to soggy tissues at the end of it all.

On Day 1 we had the long awaited Cheerleading event followed by the Basketball game on that very same day. Swimming, Dodgeball, Ping Pong, Badminton, Futsal, Amazing Race..all within the span of one week. On Monday would be track and javelin and on Tuesday, we hope to be done with the rest of the Dodgeball matches.

I never knew one human being could do much in such a short span of time. Ask any dental student (who contributed ahem ahem ahem clears throat) and they would raise one finger with the help of the other finger, supported by raising their knees slightly for a larger force…..just to show you that they are still alive.

Body Evolution (our local massage center located at our usual dinner spots) would be filled with BDS people over the next few days. I had my full body massage there a few days ago and if any of you saw ugly red spots on my right and left arm (bilateral ugly red spots), that’s because the china masseuse talked me into getting the hot cup treatment. Don’t know what is it lah, I thought she wanted to use the cow bone on me to ‘kuat sah’ and before I knew it, my flesh was being sucked into tiny bowls. I had a very turtle moment and it hurt like a mofo bitch. That’s why it is very important to send your children to chinese schools.

SO! Here’s a summary of our cheerleading preparations over the past few weeks. All these photos were up on facebook weeks ago but privatised to only my classmates as we did not want to show any of the juniors or lecturers what we had in store for them come ADSALympics Day 1! Our hard work really paid off with all the awesome comments we have been getting. For eight days of practice, I think we did pretty good. We got second place though Maxis wanted us to be number one! We are complacent people and it was more than we could have asked for! Full coverage on the Cheerleading event will be after this post. PROMISE.

Our first ever practice was held at the jetty in our housing area, BLM. Trivia: The jetty is rumoured to be haunted after 7pm.

I was also supposed to be on one end of the bridge as an extra boy, since there weren’t enough boys in the team and the only girl who had the physique (body mass) of a guy was me, so fml. Sad flashbacks of wearing a tuxedo and twirling my classmate who was wearing a yellow dress, dancing to the song “Happy Together” at our kindergarten concert played in my head. Not enough boys back then too.

For our second cheerleading practice, Maxis found a shady area near the first guard house at uni. It was a spot that most of us did not even know existed. Another reason to give my hat off to him.

For the past few years as Lie Yuen’s sister, best friend, classmate, housemate, ex college classmate, KL kaki lang… I have always had a feeling that she used to cheerlead in high school but would always get scolded from her for getting my facts wrong. Seems that I was right all along. She does have natural cheerleading talents! Climbing up to the third layer..etc.. she can do it all lah.

Both hands have to raise at the same time so that the flyer will feel more stable.

At our third practice, we had it at Gemilang the futsal court. Maxis was taking this so seriously, he even printed out instructions for everyone. We were so proud of Maxis for taking so much initiative that we scolded each other if any of us forgot to take the paper home. LOL.

Dinner after that third practice was at a rather high class chinese restaurant. But shared among so many people, it was only RM10 per person.

After class, we gathered to start on the pompom making process. It was a futile session as the material used was not ideal.

Long story short, most of the pompoms were done by my grandmother, mum and me as I thought it would be better that I finish the pompoms since if a few people took it back to their respective hometowns during the holidays to complete, there would not be any form of standardization. So, I took one for the team!

This was our second run through with the music. It was already our second last practice. Hahaha.

After our one week holiday, we rented a badminton court somewhere in town for our final rehearsal. It was also the first time we attempted that super dangerous three layer formation where Lie Yuen falls backwards to the waiting arms of the boys.

This formation was also thought of super last minute. I think the actual performance was our second or third time going through the whole routine. *bows*

Pompoms are good to go!

The banner was done creatively by Ee Chia, Nien, Chwan Horng and a few others. I loved the glittery gold paint! We have a banner that rolls down from the top of the three layer formation. You can see that in the video!

Honestly, the money is not consistent but it is a total enjoyment seeing all the colourful stickers that I manage to take in. It is just enough to pay the bills on a monthly basis but to go on holidays or to really make a living out of it? Of course not!!

However, some blogshops go on to become real online stores and they actually make enough to quit their full time jobs to focus on the business entirely!

Then there are times when a bazaar crops up and invites you to be part of it (The usual rates are RM70-80 but more sought after bazaar spots have a higher going rate). I don’t know about clothes lah but back in the glamourous days of Bijou Bazaar, a pioneer in the bazaar-online blogshop scene, stalls can make up to a thousand ringgit in one afternoon.

As for my stickers, the best I ever got was about RM500. The worst? LOL A profit of RM2! Sales was terrible and the rental was expensive. Walked around the other stalls and bought RM30+ worth of hairbands and thus the RM2 profit after sitting there for a whole afternoon.

So here is my recap of my bazaar experience at MOS Euphoria’s/A Shopaholic’s Den’s Too Hot 2 Handle:

The night before, I took out all my stickers from their respective plastic bags and arranged them properly in the box so I did not have to do this at the bazaar the next day.

Sensing the excitement in the air, Angel loves to be in the thick of things and decided to sit right in the middle of my sticker mess.

Whenever I am working on  something, she will come and sit right in the middle. If it is soft, she will fall asleep on the pile.

Like how she did with my pompoms which I was working on the night before for my faculty’s sports week (held this week). Mel laughed so hard when I told her I was going to be a cheerleader.

-____- So comfortable right?

She won’t get off no matter how many times I ask her to.

After awhile I decided to give her paperweight duties. She fell asleep and her paws were easily lifted up without rousing the sleeping dog. So one paw held down one stack of plastic bags from a certain supplier and the other paw did the same for another supplier’s stocks.

When that was done, I had to take out my dad’s tool box and find a spanner, learn how to use it and dismantle my mum’s metal clothes hanger. Rolled it out to the front door to make things easier in the morning. Asked mum for some crystal bowls for my display, packed the essentials like strings, markers, plastic bags among the usual sticker stuff.

As I had yet to finish with some sticker inventory work, I was up till almost 3.30am keying in codes and taking photographs with my eyeballs blurring with eye shit because sleep was much needed.

I surprised myself by waking up with exactly enough time to wash my hair, blow dry and have my full make up done. *pats self on the back* This would be the third time this year where I put on make-up. What is happening to me?! Too comfortable with my own face?! How can that be?!?

So hell basically starts after colouring my eyebrows (last make-up step). I drag the plastic bag containing my plastic bags for customers, record book, calculator, scissors, cellophane tape, strings, corkboard pins, disposable chopsticks and plasticine.

I start by trying my best to stuff the clothes rack in to the car with plenty of huffing and puffing and maneuvering, sweating under the slight morning drizzle. I then make countless trips by first putting my biggest sticker box in the boot, followed by my smaller sticker box (i usually have two more small sticker boxes but since I can fit everything into one big box and small box, I guess this is good news which means my stocks are actually dwindling!), then my big carry all with all the random crap a sticker stall could possibly need. Mum’s precious crystal bowls clinging in another bag, settled into the backseat. Kicked two nice heels into the backseat while I put on my 3 year old slippers to drive (and for the many trips up to the stall and down to the carpark).

Finally settled into the driver’s seat. Checked my make-up. Okay, still presentable.

Drove to the petrol station to pump petrol, bought my lunch for the day (coconut buns ftw and mineral water), took out some cash from the ATM. Just in case I saw something nice at the bazaar but I hardly had time to wander around.

Upon reaching Sunway Hotel, I had to make like a thousand trips from the carpark to Euphoria where the bazaar was held, lugging my million and one things. By the third round, I was a sweaty mess.

I looked in the mirror and a gunk of whitish stuff was accumulating on my upper lash line. It looked like eyelash glue applied directly onto my lashes but the problem was I did not even put my falsies on so this was beyond gross!! Melted eye concealer, sliding off my lids because of the sweat and then settling on my lashes!

But the show must go on.

I dragged my mum’s clothes hanger up the stairs and a fellow blogshop owner helped me hoist it up and had to wait for me when I went “oh fuck oh fuck, my eyeshadow just went into my eye” and had to stare at the ceiling and blink furiously for a few seconds. The kind stranger stood there waiting for awhile and then we continued our long tedious journey.

Throughout the arduous process, there were many other blog shop owners who were trudging up with their super big suitcases. Since they were selling clothes, they probably have it far worse than me. Sucks to be them!

After getting everything up to my store, it was time to open up my cloth trays (damn useful) and place the stickers accordingly. Epoxy stickers, furry stickers, big puffy stickers, bling stickers etc.

My display was a little different this time around!

I used my mum’s disposable chopsticks, stuck tiny colour papers on it with the stickers’ description and price on it, propped it onto a plasticine and there you have it! A sign with a stand!

My mum’s crystal bowl were used to keep my decoden stuff. Yeap, they finally arrived. Pictures up on the blog soon!

Nice right?!? So many girls came by to run their fingers through them. I hope interest means good. Damn supplier won’t let me take less than 100 pieces per design.

Clearing out the old stocks. I have plenty new stocks at home which I didn’t want to bring because then they would be distracted by the new ones and my old stock would be like old maids left on the shelf.

I feel so smart this time around. I bought two plastic corrugated er..plastic boards(?) in pink and blue. Stuck corkboard pins into it and hung the stickers all up.

When that was done, I could finally rest. I really wanted to walk around but didn’t because I did not have a friend with me this round. Previous unfortunate souls were such as my mum, Chee Kiang, Mel and Esther. Which is good also since I was not tempted to buy anything.

With the little bit of clothes I had on, I was shivering and tweeted, “Fucking cold in Euphoria!! Any blogshop selling jackets?!?” Too bad the event did not have a hashtag or it would have been awesome communicating with the other sellers.

I saw a few familiar faces like Leeza from Tasty Cherry Chapstick and Jeremy from My Favouritees. Grace from Lush Serendipity is also a familiar face but it was only this round that we got acquainted. Tiffany from Soak Republic was talking to me at my car…..and I really forgot if we have met or not. :( I AM HORRIBLE LIKE THIS. :(:( So I saw her earring carousels and I stupidly asked (to make conversation), “Oh…..you sell accessories!” She gave me an ‘are you kidding me’ look, “I am from Soak Republic la!!”

:( I only dealt with Pei Shan (extra remember her because of the same chinese name) before when I reviewed some of their products and only saw Tiffany at previous bazaars. :( My bad. Awesome stuff..too gorgeous. I lost one bracelet during a drunken night out though.

Tiffany wasn’t the first victim of my lousiness in remembering people. It is not that I don’t care for the people that I meet, but I just have such terrible memory!

Quite a few people walked pass my booth or stopped and said, “HI Jolene!!” and I waved back, “Hi!!! How have you been?” without a clue who they are.

As for old school friends, there were too many that came by my booth! They didn’t even know I would be there that day! The first would be Evelyn who was my senior from school, Chung Lern and his girlfriend Stephanie (whom I bumped into at Daiso Curve exactly a week ago), Kok Ben, Sze May (a junior whom I didn’t recognize because of her funky hair cut. Had to ask her, “Sorry you are?” Malu sial……she was one of the faithful Interact Club juniors), Pui Mun and college friend Matt Ho plus primary school classmate Wayne Adam!!

Bloggers friends too, the usual Kelli, Hsu Jen, Nigel and David who are usually there at every bazaar that I am at! Plus Jess whom I was supposed to send stickers too! Arghh! If only I brought it along, I could have passed it to her. Vivien, Ginny and Natalie were there too!

Yien Yee, the smart girl who runs A Shopaholic’s Den. She was pretty much the bazaar’s organizer though it is an event under Euphoria.

One was my class monitor in standard one who threatened to write my name if I spoke another word when the teacher was not in and the other I met in college when I did the make-up for the cast members of a play by the Taylor’s College Society of Performing Arts.

After repeatedly explaining the joys of decoden and bling bling stickers to all who stopped by to oooh and aaaah, it was finally time to go home at 6pm. Since I was all alone, I had to AGAIN make the countless trip up and down.

If my day at the bazaar with all those familiar faces walking by wasn’t enough to make me feel that Subang is a really small place, Justin and Ada were in the car opposite mine. Can’t run away from familiar faces.

Seeing me struggle with my boxes, one of the waiters helped me to carry it all down to my car. “I help you because I like you! You know my name or not?” he said. I was like, “Okaaay…….” but still have to give tips lah. Coz cannot assume people think you’re a lenglui and just play the lady in distress card right?

So I played the lady in distress who will still give him RM5 tips anyway. He took it immediately. Right then…:\

Compliments and help were much appreciated anyway.

Finally back in my car at about 7.15pm with my freebra sliding off my chest due to sweat (yes I know I am the most disgusting girl in the world but such is life) so the bra sat next to me in the passenger seat as I made my way home.

It says a lot now that for a simple outing involving a stay over and a night out on the dance floor had to be planned out so many months in advance! 

For years, the girls, otherwise affectionately known as The Dahlings have wanted to go away somewhere together. What was supposed to be Mel’s hen’s night dwindled down to a night full of girly fun because she said it was too early for a hen’s night. So maybe round 2 in 2011! From overseas trips, we cut down the plan to local holidays to fit budget and schedules and to further fit schedules, we just thought, “Haiyah, have a sleep over at one of the hotels in KL only lah!” 

I’m still looking forward to the day where we can truly go on a holiday, just us girls!  

The day started off with some famous wan tan mee at a coffee shop in SS14 but I opted for pan mee instead. Pan mee is my latest craze! Have you heard of Jojo Pan Mee in SS15? It’s the best! I think there are other branches but I am not sure where.

At this point I was a little bit too happy. Some random guy took this photo for us and while he was still holding on to my camera I turned to the girls and said loudly, “He is really cute!”

With all our busy schedules, it is indeed rare to just come together and have tremendous fun. I’m the only one still in uni save for that future Dr. Ang Su-Chien dwelling in Australia, so you can imagine lah. Trying to organize a short holiday is pretty much a nightmare as there is no such thing as school holidays anymore.

As the night wore on, almost everyone was trying to swat me away.

It was quite a big crowd that night!

I’ve always heard of Moet but have never seen it, and not in this size too!

The birthday boy told me something really funny a few weeks after that. I have this problem where after a certain amount of alcohol, I become a crybaby drunk. Simple things can trigger the tears. Very very very simple. Too embarrassing to say but at that point in time it seemed as if it was the saddest thing on  ever. So there I was sitting on one of the sofas alone sobbing my heart out (thank god the make-up was still intact!) thinking no one saw me since it was so dark. But little did I know that everyone saw me and you know la guys damn scared one when they see a crying girl. 

So Marcus came with his champagne glass wanting to clink glasses, “Heyyyyy – *sees me crying and immediately U-turns*”  The boys told Mel and Esther, “Uh, Jolene’s crying” and they were like, “Haiya always like that one. No need to care.” Yeah really no need to care one. Hahaha. Just my stupid weird self.

We decided to end the awesome weekend with a trip to Zouk Spa (go Zouk Club then go Zouk Spa) for a massage. Was about RM50 for an hour, full body. Not too bad! I think the skills of the masseuses there are pretty good.

All five of us had a room to ourselves! The missing ones were downstairs having a leg massage instead.

With my current one week holiday in NUS enjoying the super fast internet connection here, I’ve been putting in a lot of backlogged photos into drafts so yeah, my blog is catching up quite a bit with my life!

The dental dinner was very much anticipated by the first batch of dental students here at AIMST.

It being our last, most of us were having a hard time trying to decide what to wear. For myself, I knew that I needed something long. Of course must be something with a plunging neckline too, hehe. That’s just the way I roll contrary to what my mother thinks. It’s a nice present.

I just wanted opposite of everything that I’ve ever had. No more letting my hair down or even dresses that ends above the knees. I don’t know if I made any fashion boo boos lah, but oh wells, variety in life bla bla bla. Clutch a little bit unavoidable since most clutches looks the same. Sometimes it gets a little bit annoying because formal wear fashion has only so many varieties but still, definitely much better than being a guy.

I did contemplate on treating myself to a mani and padi but Jolene The Nail Artist from 2003 finally emerged from the depths of my many personas and said, “For fucks meh pay so much,” so I decided to do it myself. Since Jolene The Sticker Monster (another one of my many personas) has quite a lot of nail bling blings, I, Jolene The Poor Dental Student (obligatory persona to provide for a better future for my family – current and future. Current because I must maintain poor dental student status so that my dad doesn’t kill me when I tell him that my bank account is high and dry before the month is up and future because dentists usually can put their kids through university) shall make use of this fact. I think most of you might be lost at this point. It’s okay, read again.

This is also a promotional gimmick to get my customers to have faith in Preciosa crystals which is just as shiny, if not more shiny than Swarovski crystals. It’s like an equally good crystal brand lah, that I got duped into selling. I thought I was buying Swarovski. But it’s okay, turns out that some customers are quite pro when it comes to crystals and some of them love Preciosa! Yay!

Cze-Yin and I went to get our hair done without Lie Yuen because she was at home with one of her many personas too. To name a few, she has Lie Yuen The Self Hair Stylist Persona (whom she was at home with), Lie Yuen The Comic Doodler Persona, Lie Yuen the Otaku persona, Lie Yuen the Dog Lover persona, Lie Yuen the Lomo Crazy Photographer and so on. There are many people living in our house. Multiples of three.

This is what they were doing before they put everything up. What I wanted was a high bun but they didn’t quite give me that. Don’t know why the bun didn’t hold up well.

Getting a bit emotional. We wanted a picture in our dresses as housemates right outside our house. Something to look back on in the years to come, don’t you think? The rusty gate, the tiny patch of vegetables planted by the next door popo and the brochure-strewn porch, sigh. Only 5 more months now before we say byebye. If I don’t study hard, maybe I will have to stay there alone for another year. Boo.

Dr. Niekla belts out Whitney Houston’s The Greatest Love Of All. Dr. Niekla can SING! Not only is she a brilliant pediatric dentist, she had an album and everything when she was in high school and quit the singing business to pursue her dentistry studies. My lecturer was a pop star back in Indonesia!! I can’t get over it, it’s just too awesome.

It has been a tradition for the Batch 1 to put up a video and this year, Jimmy came up with the idea to make a parody of this funny Thai commercial about exaggeration over the simplest things.

Ah Thong laughs at himself on the screen. I’m getting some Oscar/Golden Globes vibes here. Heh, like they are all dressed to the nines like how they are in the awards as they watch snippets of their award winning performances.

After the video was the part where a couple of students from each batch were sent up on stage to compete for the Dental King and Dental Queen title. The winner was Khim Yik from Batch 3 and Stephanie who is from Batch 2! This is Khim Yik’s second win! He first won the title when he was in Year 1!

Batch 2′s drama was damn cute lah. The red cloth is the gingiva and those white stuff are of course teeth. It’s a story about a few teeth in the mouth of a boy. Whoever who was doing the voiceover (I think Carmen was one of them) did such an amazing job!

Then you have the bad guys, who are none other than evil S. Mutans. Streptococcus Mutans is the commonest bacteria which contributes to tooth decay, so of course all the dental students roared with laughter. So geeky of us!

By far the sweetest couple in BDS (the rest also very sweet..but the guys must take a leaf out of David’s book okay!) This is Kimra and David who have been together since their first year. They are now in third year already. Like most couples here in dentistry, they are always together. A particular sweet moment was during the futsal ADSALympics event. Someone kicked the ball and it hit Kimra on the head with a loud smack. David left the court and immediately rushed to her side and rubbed her head. SO SWEET RIGHT. It was by far the most exciting part of the game for me. *guy sports bore me*

After the dental dinner and it being our last, many of us made our way over to Mois. It was fun because people from different batches came along. The crowd was huge! About a quarter of the club were taken up by dentistry students and some of us called our friends from other courses along. So basically Mois was filled with AIMST students that night.

And now he is married to a beautiful Miss Gloria who hails from Negeri Sembilan. 

He proposed to her at a bus station in Negeri Sembilan before going back to Johor for his clinical (he was still in final year at that time, I think) as they were so very sad having to part each time he came to visit her in Negeri Sembilan. His story damn drama one lah, typical Ben Shyen. Something about how he asked her mum if he could take her with him to Johor/Kulim and the mum was like, “You marry her lah!” and that’s exactly what he did! In his words, “So after proposing to her, I drove…” “WHAT!!!!” I shouted, incredulous. Coz Ben Shyen, being a very good citizen has refused to bribed the JPJ people for his kopi-o license and has not got his driving license yet. He has not had the time to retake his driving test and for years have become a running joke among the bunch of us. We still love him just the same, always so fun to tease him. <3 

I need to share the infamous incident where Ben Shyen failed one of his driving tests. Hope he won’t kill me for this.

He was all ready and set to go in the driver’s seat when the instructor asked, “Hujan kah hari ini..?”

“Ya Tuan, Ujian!” he replied.

Abit frustrated, the instructor asked again, “Hujan kah??”

“Ya Tuan, Ujian!” he answered again, perplexed. 

“HUJANKAHHHH?!?!?!” the instructor shouted, pointing at the swinging windscreen wipers.

So anyway he said, “OKAY fine, WE drove to a nearby goldsmith to get our rings. And when I came up to Kulim, she followed me. ”

*sigh* HELLO LAM CHEE KIANG APAMACAM! GOT TAKE DOWN NOTES AH. 

Ben Shyen’s bunch of guy friends were our other close bunch of guy friends who were from the 1984 batch. This means that most of them are two years older than us but my bunch of girls (the dahlings who are all 23 year old grandmas this year) and them got on like a house on fire. Many thanks to Interact Club and being on the Volleyball Team. Because of them, I had wonderful wonderful high school memories. 

So for them to come all the way up north was a damn fun road trip that I wished I was a part of. The boys bought a Doraemon helium balloon and was voiced by Dennis all along the high way. The balloon was supposed to be tied to Mel’s car because she apparently drives like a demon on the North South Highway. All the better they could see her with, my dear. 

Since I’m already in Kedah, all I had to do was drive down about 45 minutes to Penang to meet up with the rest who started their journey about 6am from Subang. It’s quite nice to be in Kedah for once so that I can wave my hands dismissively at them when they offered to fetch me from Sungai Petani, “Pfft..it’s okay. I can drive down myself, very near only.”

While leaving Sungai Petani, I saw this signboard. Quite demeaning lah. Like Kedah is not ALL about paddy fields okay! 

Long story short, my gps sucks balls and meeting up with the rest took far too long so I spent my afternoon on the internet at E-gate while waiting for further instructions to meet up. Since the rest were still gallivanting around mainland Penang, trying out the local rojak and what not, I was alone on Penang island hoping they would arrive soon. Wai Kit too arrived in Penang airport and so I offered to pick him up as I didn’t have anything else to do at that time.

The moment he got into my car, he snapped his phone shut and was like, “Okay, we need to have operational base here in Penang. I’ve booked a room at Rasa Sayang in Batu Feringghi!”

Room is an understatement though.

The idea was to make full use of the beach as the sun set on the straits of Malacca but they were STILL stuck in a long crawl all the way from the Penang bridge right up to Batu Feringghi. If you know your Penang roads, you would shake your head too. So it was just Wai Kit and me. Haven’t seen him in about 3 years and there we were hanging out together, doing beachy stuff.

Wai Kit grew up with Ben Shyen, Dennis, Joshua et all when they went to primary school and high school together until he left for Singapore in form3 when he got the Asean scholarship. Being the smart fella that he is, he later went on to further his education in US, scored a really good job and was sent over to Hong Kong where he now works. He comes home frequently and hangs with his high school friends so as you can see, they have rather strong bonds! 

Growing up with Dennis, Ben Shyen and the rest, I did not really have the chance to know Wai Kit like how I got to know the other guys (can insult until the sky fall down that kind) as he left my high school when I was in form1. Still, it’s nice to see him in short spurts whenever the chance permits.  

For a damn long time I have been meaning to try parasailing and with Wai Kit’s encouragement, I just thought, “Ah what the fuck” and decided to go on one. 

It’s quite scary actually because the guide’s like, “Must run fast okay!! MUST RUN!!!” I’m all so what if I don’t run fast enough will I die or what!!! and before I know it, I’m dragged on the sand for a bit before my entire body is lifted off the ground and I’m floating through the sky, about a 100m above the sea.

My parachute is damn cute right! It’s like so happy go lucky while I’m screaming like a little bitch.

At that point I was totally taking in the sights, regretting not bringing my camera with me. Could have tied it to my wrist, no problem one.

It’s a short ride. But for RM80, it was worth it as I will probably never have the chance to do something like that again. If I don’t pay RM80 to do it again la. -_- Must always try everything once right?

You can’t see Wai Kit in this picture but he was happily having a swim while I sat gloomily at the side waiting for the rest. Should have brought my bikini damnit! The lack of a bikini also contributed to an event where Mel, Mun Teng and myself took our friendships to whole new levels while using a certain facility that we would never ever have the chance to use again if we didn’t fork out huge sums of money. Desperate times.

And the gossip girls hath arrived!

Mel, Mun Teng and I made full use of the open air hot tub in the room. I wish I could stay in that room again and again. This time must substitute everybody in that room for just one single person.

I think these were baked prawns marinated with salt. Or seawater. Tastes real good!

We couldn’t care less and used our hands anyway!

There were so many crabs – no shortage at all! Usually when I get to eat crabs, I have to make sure that other people have enough to eat before I take a second piece.

If you like crabs slightly salted, this is good!

This is basically the entire bunch who were there for Ben Shyen’s bachelor party that night.

Since it was a bit improper for the bunch of boys and us girls to be getting naked in the tub together, we just soaked our legs and talked cock the night away.

Some bachelor party this is. -__- The boys were lying in bed together watching some football match. That’s Ben Shyen on the floor waiting for his stripper who never came. (We never called also)

So of course the idea of a bachelor’s night is to get the wedding boy drunk. This is my first bachelor’s party (and I think the only one ever) so I don’t quite know the traditions. 

But I think in Malaysia, birthday boys and wedding boys all same only ya? Idea is to get them pissed drunk so that we’ll have plenty of stories to tell in the years ahead.

Because we were near water, the boys parked all their gadgets on the massage bed. YES there was a freaking massage bed too.

I was never really close to most of the guys in this pic with the exception of Jiun Jeh and Wai Kit (thanks to Interact Club) but because of Ben Shyen’s wedding, I got to know them all a little better. All damn funny one!!

As part of his bachelor night, Dennis offered to give Ben Shyen’s feet a good rub.

A clearer picture of Ben Shyen’s infamous bulus. Back in the days, Ben Shyen was already very hair for a 16 year old and volleyball tournaments meant Ben Shyen would be owning the court in his short shorts with our volleyball coach goading him on going, “GO BULU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” 

Volleyball practices were whiled away seating by the benches and finding ants on the floor to be put into his mass of leg hair. The ants had a tough time finding their way out.

As for Interact Club projects which involved some arts and crafts (think cutting hearts/roses thorns for V’day projects), the scissors would come out to snip snip away at his hair. It was okay, he always had more to spare. 

This was when Wai Kit popped a champagne bottle and splashed it all over Ben Shyen.

Poor thing.

Totally not helping.

Even though a lot of the champagne spilled, there was still quite a lot to go around.

After a few drinks, all the emoness started. Dennis damn make spoil the moment lor. 

I can’t remember what happened in this photo. But there was a running joke that since there was no stripper for the night, Mun Teng could fill the spot. She’d stand in the middle of the tub and prepare a bubble bath and we were like, “Oh show starting already show starting!” and she’s only trying to make more foam in the tub.

From Batu Feringghi we then made our way back to Kulim using a GPS, which meant getting lost until almost 4am. Zzzzzzzzzzz. Once we reached our accommodation for the night, I asked Dennis, “What time are we getting up tomorrow?”

He deadpanned, “6am”.

So after an hour’s worth of sleep, I was up at 5am blow drying my hair while cursing.

The design was done by Jiun Jeh who is pretty much our designated t-shirt designer since forever. Volleyball team t-shirts, Interact Club t-shirts, Project t-shirts… all thanks to Jiun Jeh! He went on to become a superstar in his hall (Raffles Hall) at NUS and if you are aware of the traditions at NUS, Rag Day is a huge thing! He designed one of the rag float during his years there!

At 7am we made our way to Ben Shyen’s house. He has now officially moved away from Subang Jaya and is staying in Kulim. It’s only like half an hour away from Sungai Petani, technically I could visit him whenever but since Mr. Doctor Ooi is always so busy……so.

This was a strange game. They made Ben Shyen eat an entire rope made out of dried sotong, and it stretched on for about 6-7 doors.

Looking at this pic, I thought about the shared history between this bunch of boys and the dahlings. At least half of them were involved with at least one dahling during our high school days. Some were involved with two dahlings, many had hit on the same dahling, some one way, some two ways, some three ways *shifty eyes*. But we still remain good friends despite it all. <3 And none of us ended up together. -_- FRIENDS FOREVER!!

I’ve been on the plane on my own a lot this year. My virgin solo flight was in Feburary 2009 to surprise Chee Kiang for Valentine’s day and I even flew to Thailand on my own last weekend. My first time in Bangkok! SHOPPING MADNESS. Promise you, it’ll be the blog post after this. Not a big deal to you jetsetters but I’ve always regarded airports and flights as a family thing, a big hoo hah when a bunch of friends plan a holiday months in advance. 

Coming out from my car at the Penang International Airport’s carpark. I’ve been googling for years regarding buses or simpler modes of transportation from Sg. Petani to Penang airport but to no avail. A freaking cab costs RM90 from Sungai Petani to the airport and that’s only one way! If you drive, the toll only costs about RM12 or so. I can’t really remember. But get this – if you leave your car at the carpark for 24 hours, it’s RM20! So if I leave my car at the airport over the weekend, say Friday night, Saturday night and I return on Sunday, my total will be about less than RM70? Which is tons cheaper than RM180 for your cab ride to and fro Sg. Petani. Still pricey. :X 

Hate doing aeroplane maths. Return flights + parking cheaper than driving home (RM50 petrol, RM50+ toll one way) or what? Sigh. Anyway, moving on. This is not a post about my travel expenses.
 

Felt quite proud of myself as I managed to hop on to the MRT from Changi Airport and actually walked from the Outram MRT Station to Link Hotel. I is not a pampered girl! Yayz! (Actually because no money to flag down a cab). Link Hotel was previously a row of HDB apartments which have since been converted into a boutique hotel. The rooms there come in four themes – chinese, malay, indian and modern. I think mine was chinese.

For the Nuffnang Asia Pacific Blog Awards, all foreign bloggers (Malaysia, Phillipines and Australia) were put up at Link Hotel. It was packed with bloggers… over 90 rooms apparently. Like a whole conference going on! I was feeling a tad bit antisocial, don’t know what’s wrong with me, so I didn’t make many new friends.

Foreign bloggers were also provided with free transportation and given a three day tour of Singapore which I had to miss out on due to uni commitments. (Read: Visiting a kindergarten on Sunday morning to read to them a story about The Teeth Siblings (Adik-Beradik Gigi) It was part of my assessment okay -_-)

The bathroom wasn’t too shabby too! Nice and bright for my much anticipated make-up session. Since I arrived earlier than most of the other bloggers who were on the bus from KL, I had time to kick back and make full use of the complimentary broadband internet. That’s like a total of 4 hours of me-time. Very enjoyable.

The lights in the room were a bit dim though. 

NYahahhahahahaha. My cosmetic collection which hardly sees the light of day. 

Gotta love the mantlepiece in the bathroom. So very convenient!

When the invitation deems it a black tie event, you know you can go all out. Bring on the extravagant lashes! <3

Fascinators are great alternatives when one is low on cash to splurge on professionally styled hair. I got mine from BabyBeDazzled which is pretty much THE place to get headbands and hairbands from for those on a budget. I’m low on funds after the boomz (souvenir from Singapore) Bangkok trip so need to save up whatever I have left. Dental dinner is in two months and I need cash for dress, hair, clutch, shoes, blings, mani and pedi…and what else ah….oh yah dental dinner ticket. ahahaha.

I only used some brown and turquoise eyeshadow from the 88 colour palette which I bought from Blushberry almost a year ago and my usual Blitz ‘n’ Glitz MAC Fluidline with the Kohl eyeliner. Kohl eyeliner kind of smudges, much to my disappointment. :\

I buy a new pair every three months or so as the adhesive do wear out. The idea is to slap it on as far left and for the other side; as far right as possible..and clasp it together. You’ll see the difference too!

Well if we wanted it to REALLY be a Subang people thing, there were two others (Audrey and Wai Ping(Pinky)) who were running around.

As with any Nuffnang event, there’s the huge backdrop that people would go and have a photo with. Very much like actual gala awards. 

With Chee Kiang who came after his class ended at 6pm! Hugs and kisses to him for sitting through the entire thing while I went about making small talk with new friends, gossiping with old friends and camwhoring with the luminaries. Also for being my camera man. Thanks dear..:) That’s why I love you so much!

Okaylah sorry one more of the two of us. Shit, the silly feather from my fascinator is hanging over my forehead like a dancer’s headgear. Anyway, the last time we got dressed up for something so glamorous was when we were both only 16 and 17 years old.

Nuffnang Bloggers from Australia! I’m not too familiar with their blogs but Mel got all excited that I could have said hello to Super Kawaii Mama and Lady Melbourne! =\ Now I regret.

Yenli and I with our smart colour choices, heh. Actually there were plenty of blues that night. Perhaps the next most common colour after black (which is the Nuffies’ colour code). But it was nice, we stood in shades of blue and took pics!

This is Jayden who is one of Singapore’s top bloggers! This guy is mad…check out the video he made for the Pringle’s Krrrunch video which won him SGD5000.00! He’s also doing his national service at the moment. He got his inspiration for his suit from Willy Wonka, damn creative right?

Kenny got his suit barely 2 hours before the event! And most amazingly, it looks really good too!

We had little bottles of rock candies as door gifts. It had ‘NN Blog Awards’ and ‘I Love Blogging’ in the middle of the sweets. But because of all the holes made by the alphabets, I cut my tongue a few times while sucking on some. Got ulcer now. Still tastes nice though. *continue to torture myself with more sweets* I seriously don’t know when I will I start having the mentality of a dentist and shun sugary stuff. ;\

OOOh!! Look look! I’m in the programme book! This was some section depicting their journey from their early days. And there I am, their second ever featured blogger for the month of April in 2007. Wheee. For plenty of times, this screen shot has been used over and over. Quite syok sendiri right.

But it’s so cute!! The tiny candies come in bright quirky colours. Sigh. Why are bad things so cute.

I think the candies were a great touch. Very personalized. 

This is the only photo of the stage that you’re gonna get. From where I was sitting, I couldn’t even see the stage. But we had a big screen right in front of us and as a result both Chee Kiang and I had to give neck massages to each other late at night.

Ming and Tim’s heartwarming speech about Nuffnang’s journey thus far. Tim was quite nervous though when he delivered his part of the speech! He must have been way too excited. Well, they have all come a long way. So proud of them!

Then it was time for the moment that everyone was waiting for. THE AWARDS!!

I’m honestly very grateful that Nuffnang came up with this ingenious idea of picking and awarding the best blogs in the region. I now have gems to trawl as I am losing my touch when it comes to finding good blogs to read. The nominees and winners are of seriously good quality. Not your average trashy eat shit sleep kind of blogs or copy and paste assholes or even head tilting bimbos with emoticons in place of vocabulary.

And here we are! First up, Winners of The Best Blog Shop: Bonito Chico. 
It’s not often that I acknowledge that girls are pretty. But this is one of the very few times where I will chase after them just to have pictures with them. They are so hot!!!

Winner for Best Food Blog: IeatIshootIpost’s Dr. Leslie Tey. He’s a medical doctor by day, food blogger by night! 

According to Chee Kiang, Jon always quotes from Dr. Leslie Tey’s IeatIshootIpost.sg about nice places to eat around Singapore. He must be really good at juggling his time with his medical career and his food blogging! I’m not sure to what extent his popularity goes out to, but he seems to have appeared on a tv programme before and his camera equipments are sponsored by Canon too.

Quite proud of my boyfriend also. Seems to be quite savvy about a few Singapore blogs. He even reads Taxi Diary!

Winner of Best Fashion Blog went to Lady Melbourne! I love her hair bun!! So elegant. Apparently I’m a total dinosaur here. So ancient in terms of blogging trends that I should just hang up my blogging hat and call it a day. I never knew fashion blogs were a whole category on their own. Given, I know Tongue In Chic is a good example and have become a staple to almost all Malaysian girls… but yeah, didn’t know it has spread like wild fire!

Winner of Best Celebrity Blog: Joanne Peh!!!111111111111. I didn’t get a picture with her. I loved her so much in Little Nyonya. She’s really tall in real life and in the show, she’s quite tiny. So I suppose everybody who acted in Little Nyonya must be really tall. If I go on the set, I’ll probably be the littlest one there. That would be nice for a change.

Also, I wanted to tell her that the guy who raped her in Little Nyonya is quite cute, so must’ve been quite nice! I also read that during the rape scene, he was so afraid to put his body weight on her because he was such a gentleman and had to place his entire weight on his knees.

I finally got to meet Nicole Kiss after spending nights chatting together on Gtalk about her Thailand adventures, my sticker business, her jewelry business. She even sent me a whole pack of stickers from Thailand once. Thanks babes. She’s really tall in person too and just as pretty as in her pictures.  

Jojo Struys, our local Malaysian celebrity. I first met her in 2003 on the set of Kopitiam when I went to the Vision New Media studios in Section 14 to interview Douglas Lim for my school magazine.

Wai Ping or as most of you know her, Pinky! She’s now studying in Melbourne and also working part time for Nuffnang Australia!

Huai Bin is awake this time around! The last event (Vpost Christmas Party) he konked out before we were even half way through, hehe.

I’m actually enjoying the variety of bloggers I saw there that night. Here we have Leeza Foo, owner of Tasty Cherry Chapstick and Yien Yee, the brains and beauty behind A Shopaholics Den. A Shopaholics Den is one of the must-go-to blogshop review site for all online shopaholics in Malaysia.

And David Wong! Always nice to have friends who come into the Nuffnang family (which pretty much means the blogosphere) from my circle of friends outside the blogging world. This includes people like Wai Ping, Soon Seng and Audrey. I met David Wong during a lunch session at Sakae Sushi and he couldn’t stop talking. So we set him up with one of our friends. Shhh. Secret. Then one day I got some advertorial email from Yee Hou, Cc-ed to David Wong. It included an introduction to their new staff “David”. I took quite a while to put one and one together before sending an ALL CAPS email back to him asking him what in the world was he doing in Nuffnang. He said, “Working.”

And of course, how could I leave the awards without a photo with Xiaxue? 

She was very friendly (she sometimes helps me to clean my Farmville and eats from my Cafe in Cafeworld. She’s a nice person like that) and she said, “Wah your boobs like popping out like that,” and I said, “Thank you!! Wait, is that a compliment?” and she said, “Yaa it’s a compliment.” Awwww..so sweet. Thanks Xiaxue.

Made Chee Kiang take one with Xiaxue just so he could brag to his friends at uni.

Tim still looks every bit the proud father. It was his baby’s big day!

Long story short, the event wrapped up at 11 plus but due to some logistics issue (poor Yee Hou) we only managed to get back to the hotel at almost 1am. Went out for some bites with Chee Kiang and Soon Seng, both who coincidentally do not have any Cheah or Lam female cousins or siblings. Thus they were talking about how nice it would be to have a younger sister so that they can see if female Cheahs/Lams will be attractive to men. LOL. What kind of thoughts are those.

Chee Kiang left the hotel at 5.30am for his Nike Human Race. Crazy one. Sleep at almost 3.30am some more. At least I had longer hours in bed and went down to meet the other bloggers at 8.30am. Some couldn’t wake up and missed the bus ride to the city.

I’ve already heard of Fireworks over the Grand Canyon, From The London Eye, At Tasik Kenyir, At Mount Kinabalu, At One of Their Parents’ Backyard, Over the Internet (WTF? Got read or not, that #AlvinandRachel thingie.)…. so yeah.

You can have dinner inside the capsule for SGD200 per person. We were like, “wah not bad..” when we first heard it. Come to think of it, I think we forgot to convert back to ringgit. :\

So much space to walk around. We had our own tour guide too, just because we are so called categorized as media people. I thought it was pretty cool that the marketing person they sent to accompany us is named Joleen Lau. So similar to my name!
