I understand how you feel. If we choose to be funny it’s coz it makes people laugh and warm up to us. However, there are times when we have our downs and don’t feel up to it and yet people expect us to be funny ALL the time. Sigh… sometimes people just expect us to be like what they think we are and if we are not, they make such a big hoo-ha.

You deserve some space of your own, Jolene. Take it easy.

jo: thanks babe, that’s so totally true. *sigh*. but i’m not entirely upset about this la. it was just a well needed rant. at the end of the day, we’ll cheer up and continue having a good time up and down, down and up..

haha totally agree… i like to make ppl feel comfortable with each other by making jokes, esp if it’s my first time meeting them and they’re dead quiet.

but i do choose my audience and type of jokes. some type of jokes (think crude crazy ones) can only be told to a select few.

but luckily so far i have never been expected to ‘perform’… phew~

jo: yeap, that’s my role as welll… some of my friends even take it as far as sharing it with lecturers and i have to do some quick thinking damage control. *blood boils*

Totally can relate with you la. I also like making a fool out of myself to ease the mood when meeting new people. But I hate it when people force me to try and make jokes when they need me.

yea, understandable. we dont want to startle people we’ve just met and showcase how we normally behave around friends we’ve known for ages. there’s a difference between sharing and sharing too much. its a fine line and i guess its hard for some friends to know which is which. but i’m sure they meant well.

well, as long as you slowly ease to being your usual erm.. very open and “disgusting” self after the first few meetings, its all good.

and while we’re on the topic, gosh, gotta meet up and talk to you face to face for more than 10 seconds la some day
