Overcoming Single Eyelids?

It’s bright outside and I spent the better part of the night googling the right techniques to create double eyelids. There’s the glue which freaks alot of people out and the adhesive strips.

If you search for “creating double eyelids” on Youtube, you’d find a Japanese promo video which is also a tutorial on how to use their EyeTalk glue. A lot of people found it scary especially when the model’s eyeballs looked like it was about to pop out. I bought the Cecil glue from Sasa ages ago and it cost me about RM30. I’ve only ever used it to stick my false lashes on as my eyelids were too puffy. However, I experimented with it and turns out that maybe with just a little more practice, I might see more obvious results.

There’s also the adhesive strips which I’ve been playing with for about a month now, though I’ve never worn it out of the comfort of my own room before. Stilltrying to find a way to wear it and yet not appear obvious.

One VERY interesting tip came in just hours ago from Manda. According to her, her boyfriend’s sister uses a spoon to create her double eyelids. She has done it so many times that she now has a permanent crease there. Excited and intrigued, I immediately washed the teaspoon sitting in my coffeemug. And holy moly, it works!

Alright, look here. These are the eyelids that I loathe. Droopy and single. I’ve seen pictures of double eyelid surgery and apparently they remove fat from eyelids to create a new crease. I’m thinking I’m one of those fatty eyelid people.

The cecil adhesive strips comes in this form. Like a roll of cellophane tape! It cost about RM10 from Sasa and you can cut it according to the shape of your eyes. It’s much better compared to the strips which are already in the form of ‘eyelids’. As if everyone’s eyelids are the same. Which is why this works so much better.

I will master this one day!

The books functioned as my tripod for awhile. hehe. The colour of the adhesive strip is like peeled skin.

I like to cut my strips to about this length and using the original width. It doesn’t really matter. But sometimes I get fussy and get very anal about the shape of the tape.

For me, I prefer to paste it in the middle of my upper eye lid, about 2mm away from the edge of the upper eyelid.

Smoothen it with your fingers so that it’s really flat against your skin.

Open your eyes!

It can be placed higher if you think the strip is too obvious.

I think if you go over with nude eyeshadow, it might help to camouflage the strip further. But I don’t own any nude eyeshadow. :( I’ve tried using black eyeliner with the strip before and it works really well! Like really can cover!

I decided to use my gold shimmer from Elianto and I think can lah, not outright obvious. It’s there, but not in your face. When people wear the strips and go without make up, I keep getting distracted by their eyes when I talk to them.
So it’s best to wear make up. Not so weird looking.

Okay, granted that the right corner of the strip was lifting up..but if a darker colour was used, you get my point right?

Then next would be the highly revered eye glue that has been popularised by the Japanese. (AGAIN!)

Lie Yuen, Brenda and I swear by it. These two girls are the reason why I’m obsessed with double eyelids. As in they too are forever on the pursuit to find that ONE formula that is hassle free and consistent.

I forgot one step! You’re supposed to use the minifork that comes with it to evaluate where you want the crease to be. Then at least you’ll have an idea about wear to apply the glue. Wait for the glue to become transparent. It won’t work if the glue is still watery.

Then use the mini fork to create the crease part by part.

It’s a bit hard because the fork gets stuck to the glue and then pulls the crease out anyway. Back to square one. :(

This is where Manda’s brilliant advice comes to play. With a spoon, it’s easier to create the crease.

Not the best lah, but at least better than nothing. I need alot more practice. And some of you probably don’t have as huge an amount of eyelid fats as myself, so probably the results will be more obvious on your eyes.

*Plop* The fat gets pressed out.

Roll the spoon around a bit.

Ta-da! I know it might look like it’s a hidden double eyelid, but it’s good enough for now.

but let’s see how far we can go!

Hold it there. You don’t have to poke too far in. Just gentle pushes to encourage the uypper eyelid to fold and stick together.

Ah much better.

It sort of disappears when I smile. Though it still looks nice.

And on the right eye, I managed to create a parallel double eyelid! Ya ya… I’ve been reading up on double eyelid surgery. Haha. Maybe after I graduate? But Iv’e seen how puffy the eyes can get and how artificial they look, so I’m still not sure.

Not satisfied!

Aha! Much better.

Compare this photo to the first one, my eyes ARE bigger. Though they are not really equal in size but like I said, I’ll be needing lots of practice! But it’s not so droopy ya? The shape looks nicer too. I don’t look like a sleepy zombie.

Uneven, but at least there are creases.

According to one of Lie Yuen’s friend, she tapes her double eyelid before going to bed at night. Lie Yuen tried it and her double eyelid lasted throughout the day.

Let’s hope the same will happen for me!

No paper today mah, that’s why can be so boliao! Will reply the comments in the previous post soon yahh:P

Good morning! *goes to bed*

  5. the spoon part looks scary but if it works its worth trying i guess
so u just create the crease with the spoon with nothing at all?

jo: well to make it stay, obviously you would need the glue. the glue works better if you have less fat i think.

  17. Do be careful when you mess around with your eyelids like that. Personally I don’t think it’s a very good idea, as there’s always a danger of corneal abrasion.

    jo: i will:)

  22. double eye lid surgery is not that big of a deal. Its actually quite normal nowadays. Infact, i did it too… hahaha rofl.. It’s really advisable not to leave home a week after the surgery cause ur eyes would be pretty swollen and unrecognisable ( not natural lah..) it takes about 2 months for it to be ‘normal’ .. and abt a year for it to fully recover. I mean, usually a year later, it looks very natural..and friends would adapt to it already..

another way is that the surgeon insert like a benang or something lah.. or sew the inner part of the eye lids. sounds scary but hey the results are good. haha.. Best part is, the procedure is only about 10 minutes. :)

and after having double eyelid, applying make up is just SO SO SO much more better and faster (especially with the smoky-eye effect) hehehe

  23. I can understand wanting bigger eyes, but why is the crease good?

  24. Thanks for sharing

  25. YOUR FUCKING UGLY…BEFORE AND UGLY CAMEL/PIG FACE!!!

  26. YOUR FUCKING UGLY…BEFORE AND AFTER CAMEL/PIG FACE!!!

  27. try 2 post ur pic naked next time ya babe~

  28. I’d prefer reading in my native language, because my knowledge of your languange is no so well.

  29. You’re just ugly, before and after, single or double lid. You look like you fell out of the back of an ox cart — really homely and farmer-ish. Why do you want double eyelids anyway, if you don’t already have them? Do you just assume looking more caucasian means looking more attractive?

Invest in some good tweezers and an eyebrow pencil and do your eyebrows. And wash your hair; you look like you rolled around in a vast of Crisco. Trust me, having nice eyebrows and putting a comb through your hair will do you infinitely more than fake double lids will. I mean, really, who are you trying to fool?

  30. You looked great before you put on the glue and afterwards. Beauty, as well as what is considered to be femine are extremely volatile concepts anyway. Today, dinner plate eyes are popular, tomorrow all the kids might be shoving batteries up their nose. If you spend your life fixated on the winds of change, you’re going to end up with sand… or glue in your eyes.

  31. Hello, I don’t know you but I stumbled upon this post and I really enjoyed reading it! Thanks for sharing your experience!

And don’t bother what some of those rotten people say, hiding behind the anonymity of the Internet. I bet they are the ones who are really fugly. It’s incredible how nasty and shallow they can be.

You sound like a fun gal and I know you’d be better company than those anal ostriches with their heads stuck in the sand!!

    cheers!
